About the venue: Alšova jihočeská galerie

The Alšova jihočeská galerie (AJG) is the only art museum in the South Bohemian Region and one of the five largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1951 and named after South Bohemian painter Mikoláš Aleš (1852-1913), it has been housed since April 1956 in the neo-Gothic castle riding school at Hluboká nad Vltavou, built in 1845-47 by Viennese architect Franz Beer. Its collection of over 20,000 works spans Gothic art from South Bohemia and the Šumava region, Dutch paintings, and modern and contemporary Czech art.
