The National Theatre is the representative stage of the Czech Republic and a symbol of national identity. Its Neo-Renaissance building, known as the "Golden Chapel," was designed by architect Josef Zítek and opened in 1883. The theatre brings together four artistic ensembles — Opera, Drama, Ballet, and Laterna Magika — and manages four stages, including the Estates Theatre and the State Opera. It is a designated national cultural monument.

Prague's National Theatre serves as the Czech Republic's principal stage and stands as one of the most significant symbols of Czech national culture. This neo-Renaissance structure on the Vltava riverbank was constructed through a nationwide public fundraising campaign, inaugurated in 1881 with the premiere of Smetana's opera Libuše, and reopened following a catastrophic fire in 1883.
