About the venue: National Theatre

The National Theatre is the representative stage of the Czech Republic and a symbol of national identity. Its Neo-Renaissance building, known as the "Golden Chapel," was designed by architect Josef Zítek and opened in 1883. The theatre brings together four artistic ensembles — Opera, Drama, Ballet, and Laterna Magika — and manages four stages, including the Estates Theatre and the State Opera. It is a designated national cultural monument.

Mozart's final singspiel, completed in 1791, sends Prince Tamino and the comic bird-catcher Papageno through a gauntlet of trials in pursuit of Princess Pamina. The Queen of the Night's aria stands as one of the most demanding and celebrated pages in all of opera.
