Kaštan – scéna Unijazzu is a multi-genre cultural club in the Břevnov district of Prague, run by the civic association Unijazz. Its main hall holds around one hundred visitors and hosts concerts, theatre performances for children and adults, lectures, and film screenings. Annual events include the Jazznění jazz festival, Bluesnění blues festival, and the Festival of Solitary Songwriters. The foyer and entrance hall are used for regular exhibitions of paintings, photographs, and documents.

About: Markéta Foukalová

Markéta Foukalová (born 1981) is a Czech singer, composer, and vocal educator active in music since her teenage years. Since 2006 she has fronted the Prague alt-pop band Lanugo and teaches at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and New York University. Beyond her work with the ensemble, she pursues independent projects: in 2025 she released the album Jinak, and with pianist Martin Brunner created Zábrana (2026), the first major musical setting of the poetry of Jan Zábrana (1931-1984). She received Anděl Award nominations in 2022 and 2025 in the Solo Performer category.

The album Zábrana (Foukalová & Brunner) was released on May 15, 2026 on CD, LP and digitally by the Animal Music label, and on the same day it was premiered at Prague's Jazz Dock.

The Zábrana project launched a Czech tour - stops are planned in Pardubice, Slavonice, Opava, Prerov, Letovice and Prague.

In June 2025, Foukalová released her solo debut album Jinak (8 songs, produced by Radimo), on which she presented herself for the first time as a composer and lyricist.
