Gesualdo Madrigali

The Quintet brings Gesualdo's madrigals to Brno on 19 November 2026 at Besední dům, one of two Czech dates on the ensemble's tour. The neo-Renaissance building on Komenského náměstí, designed by architect Theophil von Hansen and completed in the 1870s, has served as a cultural center since its opening. The concert offers a chamber exploration of Italian late Renaissance music - the works of the Prince of Venosa, marked by distinctive chromatic color and profound emotional depth. The madrigals a cinque voci represent one of the most original chapters in European musical history, shaped by harmonic boldness and expressive intensity.
