Wolfwalkers

Galerie Lázně Liberec, Liberec

The Wolfwalkers exhibition was created in collaboration between Galerie Lázně Liberec and the International Animated Film Festival Anifilm, running from April 18 to July 15, 2026. This is the fourth partnership between the gallery and Anifilm, whose 25th edition this year was dedicated to myths and legends. The exhibition centers on a retrospective of the Irish studio Cartoon Saloon, renowned for its roots in Celtic mythology. Founded in 1999 by Tomm Moore, Nora Twomey, and Paul Young in Kilkenny, Ireland, the studio has earned five Oscar nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, and won BAFTA and Emmy awards. The exhibition showcases original artifacts from the feature animated film Wolfwalkers (2020, directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart) – original character and environment designs, color scripts, early preparatory drawings, and animation frames. According to Anifilm's program director Pavel Horáček, this is the first opportunity for these original film artifacts to be presented to Czech audiences. The exhibition is curated by David Kubec together with animator Andrzej Radka from Cartoon Saloon studio, who personally contributed to the film's creation. A guided tour with commentary took place on May 7, 2026 at 5:00 PM. At Anifilm, visitors could also watch the entire Cartoon Saloon trilogy: The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers, as well as their short film Éire, nominated for this year's Oscar.
