Time Under the Dog
Kino, Humpolec · from 650 Kč · ≈ 27 €
A storm drives three women into the back room of a bistro - they barely know each other and are initially distant. Gradually, each reveals her problems, fears of loneliness, desires and dreams. An energetic manager admits that everything is different, a single mother from a lingerie boutique hides her insecurity behind a sober view of the world, and a mysterious intellectual waiting for a partner she broke up with doesn't know what comes next. Funny situations alternate with dramatic ones, the outside world echoes through mobile phones and text messages.
The weather doesn't improve, it even snows, fictional birthdays are celebrated, and champagne and cognac appear. Alcohol and joints help gain perspective, the women dance, sing, and eventually are forced to spend the night together in a locked establishment. A waiter, who dislikes women based on his own experiences, moves the plot forward, judges it and complicates it. In the morning everyone leaves, hopefully with a better understanding of themselves and a more open attitude toward others.
Performance length: 140 minutes including intermission.
