"The Three Musketeers and I" by Dmitri Krylov in Prague

Stavovské divadlo, Prague

from 150 Kč · ≈ 6 €

The production "The Three Musketeers and I" is an original work by Dmitri Krylov, dedicated to his grandmother. It marks the first collaboration between the Drama Company of the National Theatre and this director, who ranks among the most distinctive figures in contemporary world theatre. The production is loosely inspired by the phenomenon of bedtime reading and the world of two classic novels: Alexandre Dumas's "The Three Musketeers" and Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". A young boy returns home from school to find his only accomplice in madness — his grandmother. She rescues him from the grip of deadly boredom and plunges him into the depths of extraordinary stories. A visually sumptuous narrative about the essence of childhood, when it ends — and perhaps also about how life is largely what we make of it. The production combines acting, puppet scenes, demanding movement sequences, and variable scenography. The world premiere took place on 29 and 30 May 2025 at the Estates Theatre. Cast: Veronika Lazorčáková, Markéta Děrgelová, Filip Kaňkovský, Jakub Barták / Teodor Sláma and others. Screenplay and direction: Dmitri Krylov, design: Petr Vozněsenskij. Before selected performances, a free dramaturgical introduction is held in the Mozart Salon (30 minutes before the start, no reservation required). Recommended age: 10+.
