Mirror

Mirror is Andrei Tarkovsky's most personal film - a richly layered collage of various types of film material and archival recordings, in which the memories of a dying poet come alive. His dreams interweave with scenes from childhood, wartime, and marriage, all suffused with an atmosphere of mysticism and trance.

When first released, Soviet critics largely rejected the film for its elusive narrative structure. Over time, however, it became one of Tarkovsky's most acclaimed and influential works - a direct transmission of the artist's innermost thoughts and feelings onto the film screen.
