XVIII. Triennial of Artistic Book Binding
Národní muzeum, Prague
The exhibition of the XVIII. Triennial of Artistic Book Binding is on view from 21 April 2026 in the Historic Building of the National Museum in Prague. It presents the winning works of the competition of the same name held in 2025 and marks the culmination of a travelling exhibition that began last year in Třebíč and subsequently continued, for example, at the Jindřichův Hradec Museum. The traditional competition showcase is organized by the Society of Czech Bookbinders. The Triennial of Artistic Book Binding is an international competitive exhibition of artistic handcrafted book bindings with a tradition dating back to 1973, held once every three years and featuring works created in the most recent three-year period. This year's edition also commemorates the 50th anniversary of this prestigious showcase. The exhibited works are distinguished by masterful craftsmanship, inventive approaches, the discovery of new materials and their role in book binding, original works in the field of special book forms, and author-made books with distinctive artistic potential.
