Yusuke Kafuku is a celebrated actor and director whose greatest pleasure is driving his red Saab 900. During his engagement at a festival in Hiroshima, however, he is forced to hand over the wheel to Misaki, a young, taciturn driver. As they travel to rehearsals, both discover they share more than just an interest in driving - and gradually find ways to come to terms with their own traumas and feelings of guilt.
