Rabi Feder Superhero – Exhibition

Arnoldova vila, Brno

The Rabi Feder Superhero exhibition was created for the ŠTETL FEST 2025 festival in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Brno, the ŠTETL association, the Brno City Museum, and other expert institutions. It presents the life and legacy of Rabbi Richard Feder (1875–1970), who played a crucial role in restoring Jewish religious life in Czechoslovakia after World War II. Feder became one of the key figures of spiritual continuity and a moral authority of the post-war period, despite never seeking public recognition – it is precisely this modesty and inner strength that makes him a true "superhero" of his time. The artistic concept by Petra Goldflamová Štětinová employs a distinctive comic-book language that connects historical authenticity with artistic stylization. Rabbi Feder's life journey is captured from childhood, studies, and pre-war rabbinical work through the loss of his closest family and the horrors of the Holocaust, to his role as Chief Rabbi in Brno. Dramatist and writer Arnošt Goldflam contributed as author of the exhibition script, bringing a personal dimension through his memories of meeting Rabbi Feder. Main curators: Barbora Dočkalová and Markéta Brhlíková. The opening took place on 28 August 2025 at 14:00 in Arnoldova vila; the exhibition is open until 30 August 2026.
