Zayferus Falconry Flight Displays at Lednice Castle

The Zayferus falconry group has been hosting bird-of-prey flight displays in Lednice Castle Park since 1991. Shows take place in April, May, June, September, and October on weekends and holidays only; in July and August, Tuesday through Sunday. Main displays begin at 12:00 and 14:00, with the grounds opening at 11:45 and closing at 16:00. Each flight display lasts one hour — the first ten minutes feature an explanation, followed by flights.

From a spacious grandstand, spectators watch birds of prey attack animal dummies pulled by a winch, hunt a motorized crow (a model capable of climbing to 1 km altitude at 148 km/h), and demonstrations with the Aktaban terrain vehicle (max. 70 km/h). The program features over 30 species of birds of prey and owls — eagles, falcons, buzzards, vultures, owls, and exotic caracaras. An exhibition of raptors (35 species, approximately 80 specimens) is open from 8:00 to 21:00 with a guide.

At the end of each display, a raffle is held and visitors can take a free photo with a bird of prey. Admission is paid upon departure: full admission for the entire program is 350 CZK per person, groups and families of 4 or more pay 300 CZK per person, exhibition only 70 CZK, children under 4 free. In bad weather, displays are cancelled; in extreme heat, flights occur only at 12:00. Note: Lednice is home to two groups with similar names — Zayferus is located directly in the castle park near the greenhouse, Seiferos near the main parking lot outside the grounds.
