The tour topics include, among other things, the creation of the first television opening sequences and animated music videos, the role of Brno in the beginnings of video art in Czechoslovakia, and the question of why it is worth seeing the exhibition multiple times.

About the Exhibition (exhibition architecture: Kateřina Radakulan)

The exhibition maps the beginnings of video art in the former Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Hungary from the late 1960s to the mid-1990s. The selection of key events and works is placed in the social and political context that determined access to technologies and the possibilities of sharing video images. Using examples from different countries, the exhibition seeks both differences and parallels.

The exhibition includes experimental films, performance recordings, and early animation. An important part consists of independent video magazines distributed on cassettes – including Original Videojournal, Videomagazín Vokna, Videomagazín Karla Kyncla, and Infermental. In addition to single-channel video, various forms of video installations and video sculptures are represented, many of which have been preserved only in documentation.
