Czeching Showcase 2026: Ida The Young + Frankie & The Deadbeats + badfocus

The latest edition of Czeching – Radio Wave's music export project. An international expert jury will select the winner among three nominees: indie folk quintet Ida The Young, urban cowboys Frankie & The Deadbeats, and electronic producer badfocus, nominated again.

The winner will produce a music video with financial and media support from Czech Radio, present themselves to an international audience at Europe's largest showcase festival Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) in Groningen, Netherlands in January 2027, and gain the opportunity to perform at other showcase festivals across Europe. In collaboration with the export office SoundCzech, they will also receive professional coaching on a topic of their choice.

The evening includes concerts by all three nominees, announcement of the winner, and an afterparty hosted by the DJ duo Rozkvět & TMA.

Ida The Young – indie folk quintet from Plzeň, with a core duo of Iris Hobson-Mazur and Marek Koliha. They have released a critically acclaimed debut album Tell Me When You Pass The Sun (2025), won the Vinyl Award in the Discovery of the Year category, and received nominations for the Apollo and Anděl awards.

Frankie & The Deadbeats – a band with a punk past (Hanba, Prague Conspiracy, Unholy Preachers, TiNG), now developing their own take on country music, complete with costumes. They firmly believe that country belongs to everyone.

badfocus – Prokop Korb, alias badfocus, returns with a renomination as he prepares his producer album FOCUS for release. On it, he blends jazz roots with modern R&B, futuristic rap, and dance beats; the album features both Czech and international artists he has met through his export activities.
