Exhibition of Dolls and Prams in Turnov

Výstava panenek a kočárků, Turnov

In Turnov, on Jirásek Street near the Český ráj Square, you can see a private collection of over 1,000 dolls and prams. The collection is built by collector Markéta Hamadová, whose passion began with the first doll given to her by her husband thirty years ago.

The exhibition is dominated by dolls called Squinkies – figurines produced in limited series in the 1990s in Spain that capture the emotions of children and people (laughter, crying, playfulness). This is the largest collection of these dolls in the Czech Republic. Squinkies were not sold in Czechia; some brands could only be found on Mallorca or directly in Spain.

Other exhibits include porcelain dolls, dolls from the 1950s, historical prams, and realistic dolls by various international artists – you can see, for example, Lady Diana, Princess Kate, or Empress Sissi. The exhibition has been running for over ten years and continues to attract new visitors. In October, it is open only by prior telephone arrangement.
