Jan Černý at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Brno

Uměleckoprůmyslové muzeum Brno, Brno

The FLOW STATE exhibition by fashion designer Jan Černý (born 1993 in Hodonín), recipient of the Grand Designer award at Czech Grand Design 2024, takes place in the skylight hall of the Museum of Decorative Arts at Moravian Gallery in Brno (Husova 14) from 6 February 2026 to 24 January 2027. This is his first solo exhibition. The central theme is "flow state" – a state of absolute immersion in activity where time and the surrounding world cease to exist. The dominant feature of the skylight hall is a massive pendulum suspended from a sixteen-metre cable, its surface made of more than sixty kilograms of Czech crystals from Preciosa Group. On the walkways of the first and second floors stand a total of 24 figurines dressed in Jan Société models, all wearing Prestige sneakers. Everything on display was created specifically for the exhibition – it is neither a retrospective nor an archive. The exhibition also includes six key archival silhouettes from Jan Société in the permanent 2000+ collection. The exhibition is curated by Michaela Kádnerová. The exhibition is part of Fashion Year 2026 at Moravian Gallery. Jan Černý's name is associated with the Olympic collection for Paris 2024, the uniforms of the Czech pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, and green glass dress for actress Aňa Geislerová at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
