I Swear I'm Not to Blame

Fifteen-year-old John (Robert Aramayo) sees his life change forever when Tourette syndrome suddenly strikes, bringing uncontrollable vocal and physical tics. He finds himself in conflict and isolation — shame prevents him from forming relationships, while the world around him barely knows about his condition and fails to understand it.

This British film, based on the true story of John Davidson, follows his initially carefree adolescence, which is interrupted by harsh alienation and a search for his place in the world. A turning point comes when he meets Dottie (Maxine Peake), an energetic mother of a former classmate, who opens the door to support and understanding.

Through this relationship, John's shame and isolation transform into strength — he finds joy and the ability to use his condition with humour to raise awareness. The British royal family might even take notice.
