Štěpánka Balcarová & Małgorzata Hutek Quartet
took place · 30 May 2026
Description was written before the event
A new Czech-Polish quartet led by trumpeter and composer Štěpánka Balcarová continues her previous projects inspired by Polish poetry — the albums "Life and Happiness of Julian Tuwim" (2017) and the orchestral "Štěstí" (2022), which won the Anděl Award in the jazz category. The current project "Zuzanna" brings to music the poems of Polish Jewish poet Zuzanna Ginczanky (1917–1944), whose poetry is marked by irony and reflection of the era.
The quartet consists of Małgorzata Hutek (vocals), Štěpánka Balcarová (trumpet), David Dorůžka (guitar) and Jaromír Honzák (double bass).
