Barrandov – One Entrepreneur's Dream Realized
Bus Stop Barrandov Film Studios, Prague
Guided walking tour of the Barrandov villa district.
It all began with one entrepreneur's vision: to build a garden city on a rocky outcrop – a place that was inhospitable and largely inaccessible. But Václav Maria Havel was not discouraged. On the Habrová plateau, a new villa district gradually emerged, followed by film studios and a restaurant that quickly became a sought-after destination for Prague residents.
The walking tour will guide participants through this entire story – they will learn about the challenges the construction faced, how the restaurant operation on the terraces functioned, and who the first residents of the district were. The route also includes a number of preserved First Republic villas.
