Olšanské Cemeteries: Works by Architects of Famous Buildings — Kostel svatého Rocha, Prague
Description was written before the event

A guided tour where participants will discover through eight carefully selected tombs that great architects do not refuse small commissions.

Olšanské Cemeteries are not merely a place of rest or a green oasis in the heart of the city — they are also an "open-air gallery". Here you will find works by the architects of St. Vitus Cathedral, the National Theatre, and the Municipal House, as well as artists who, due to the totalitarian regime, were unable to create such landmarks in the capital. Carefully curated examples will guide you through two centuries and present eight distinct architectural styles.

The tour will be led by Kateřina Lopatová and Dana Schlaichertová — art historians and authors of the Architectural Manual of Prague Cemeteries with guide licenses. The route is approximately 1.2 km long, lasts about 1.5 hours, and ends near the main cemetery gate on Vinohradská Street. Children under 12 have free entry.

📍 Meeting point: in front of the Church of St. Rochus (near Olšanské Square), Prague 3.
