An Introduction to Contemporary Embarrassment

A theatrical adaptation of the eponymous book by Jakub Ryška and Pavel Šplíchal, created based on the blog Prigl.cz, sarcastically maps the life stages of a person in late-capitalist society — from school desks through endless meetings and three-shift factories to the longing for peace (or at least a lunch break).

The production follows three former classmates who enter adulthood from different starting positions: one from a poor village, another from a well-off family, the third somewhere in between. Although all went through the same education system, they soon discover that equal opportunities do not exist. Directors Adam Svozil and Kristýna Jankovcová approached the material as a collage of scenes, blog observations, personal stories, and absurd notes from working and personal life.
