Festival of stories, courage, and life in North Korea under the creative direction of Nina Špitálníková

The multimedia festival «Life Behind the Wall: North Korea» is created under the direction of writer and Koreanist Nina Špitálníková, who has long been collecting testimonies of people fleeing totalitarianism. The organisers present it as the largest event about North Korea and North Korean refugees in the Czech Republic and across Europe.

The main immersive installation covers 1,500 m² in Hall 13 of the Prague Market Hall. Architect Barbara Bencová creates the visual identity of the festival, with portraits of North Koreans who escaped totalitarianism by Tim Franco, the author of the award-winning series «Unperson». The exhibition is complemented by illustrations by Dana Lédl (Myokard).

At the heart of the event are authentic testimonies from North Koreans. The festival is designed for all generations and includes a children's zone called «Tota Flies», where younger visitors learn about the value of freedom through play.
