Description was written before the event

The second part of director Jan Horák's "Russian" trilogy, loosely inspired by Isaac Babel's novella "Red Cavalry". The screenplay by contemporary Slovak writer Michal Hvorecký builds on Babel's text, which invites reflection on historical experience.

A century later, Russian aggression against democratic values returns as tragic déjà vu. While the Soviet export of revolution in the 1920s was repelled, the Soviet revenge on Ukraine through famine could not be. The production raises questions: why does history repeat itself this way, why is humanity superfluous in Russia, whether change in Russian society is possible, and how to defend against deliberate disinformation that divides society.

On September 13, a dramaturgical introduction by Jan Horák will take place from 19:15 in the theatre foyer.
