GEISSLERS HOFCOMOEDIANTEN - Casanova Project: How a Ewe Smells
"What is death? Far worse is her little brother – old age!" The production explores the final days of Giacomo Casanova at Duchcov Castle and is part of a Czech-German project in collaboration with the Dresden theatre Theaterkahn. The year 2025 marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of this diplomat, philosopher, writer, adventurer and world traveller (1725–1798).
Casanova was born in Venice but left a significant mark across Europe – in Germany especially in Dresden, where part of his family lived and worked, and in Bohemia in Duchcov, where he spent his final twelve years and wrote his famous memoirs.
