Boundaries of Fidelity
Kino Světozor, Prague
Diana and Tomáš have been living together for several years and have two young sons. Infidelity enters their relationship, bringing with it secrets, mistrust, and lies. In the ensuing crisis, however, both acknowledge that their failures are mutual – and this opens space for communication on a different level, exploring deeper motivations and stories from childhood and the wider family. In the euphoria of a newly opened path, they decide to try an open relationship, but soon discover that mistrust cannot be shed as easily as it seems.
The film follows their struggle to navigate the situation, not betray their love, and at the same time consider the children, who are inevitably part of everything that unfolds. It also portrays the family background from which the protagonists came, and raises the question of whether it is possible to live differently and avoid family traumas that are unconsciously passed down across generations – even when a renowned psychologist is among their ancestors.
