Secret Agent

The film is set in 1977 in the city of Recife during carnival celebrations. The main character is Armando, a former university professor who, under a false identity, attempts to escape political persecution and make contact with a resistance movement operating against an authoritarian regime. The plot unfolds against the backdrop of political repression and social tension during Brazil's military dictatorship. Director Kleber Mendonça Filho cited Karel Kachyňa's film "Ear" as one of his inspirational sources.
