The international conference "Modernism Revisited: Typology - Topography - Strategy" will take place 21-23 October 2026 at ODA Trenčín as part of the "European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026" programme.
Organized by the Jaromír Krejcar Society in collaboration with ETOM NEB Lab and Docomomo Slovakia under the patronage of Docomomo International and the Slovak Chamber of Architects, the conference explores the contemporary significance of modernism in architecture, urbanism, landscape, and cultural heritage.
The programme includes lectures, specialist sessions, panel discussions, research project presentations, and guided tours of modern architecture in Trenčín. Confirmed keynote speakers include Beatriz Colomina (Princeton University), Henrieta Moravčíková (Slovak Academy of Sciences), and Wessel de Jonge (TU Delft).
The conference is aimed at architects, urban planners, architectural historians, researchers, students, and cultural heritage specialists, but is open to anyone interested in modernist architecture. It is part of the Moderna 2.0 project organized by the Jaromír Krejcar Society and is included in the "Trenčín 2026" programme, which is financially supported by the city of Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region, and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.
The event is conducted in English, with interpretation provided only for keynote presentations. Detailed information is available at Modernism Revisited 2026.
