Filip Żółtowski Quartet is a jazz ensemble from Polish Gdańsk that blends traditional jazz elements with modern electronic sounds and hip-hop influences. The quartet is currently rebranding under a new, more universal name: Yolk. Founded in 2020 by trumpeter Filip Żółtowski, the band is known for combining jazz improvisation, electronic textures (inspired by artists like Flume and Medasin), and hip-hop beats. Polish folk elements and emphasis on individual expression also feature in their music.
The collective has released two albums, "Humanity" and "Bibi" - the latter showing a stronger turn toward electronic sounds and richer use of synthesizers. They have performed at numerous festivals across Europe. Current sample: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOKjzOfXYfA
Line-up: Filip Żółtowski - trumpet, synthesizer; Szymon Zawodny - saxophone; Wojtek Wojda - keyboards, synthesizer; Mikołaj Stańko - drums and percussion.
