Chica Checa

Fifty-five-year-old Zdena leads an ordinary life as a rural postal worker. Her house is falling apart, and she fills her solitude with cucumbers and television. Her son Lukáš lives in France - successful, happy, distant, or so it seems through the screen of an old computer where they occasionally stay in touch.

When Lukáš's grandmother Věra expresses her final wish - to see Helena Vondráčková - it seems like nothing more than the whim of a dying woman. But when Lukáš comes home, he brings with him a secret he has carefully hidden for years: he is gay and works as a successful drag queen, Chica Checa.

His visit also reveals that Zdena yearns for a different life than what those around her expect. The effort to make their ninety-year-old grandmother happy brings Lukáš and Zdena together - and may surprise even themselves. Because when you stop lying to those closest to you, you must stop lying to yourself.
