Johnny Delaware /US/
Johnny Delaware is not troubled by the fear of death, but by the fear of not living fully. "Death is one of the best teachers we have," he says. "It reminds you why you're here, how fleeting it all is, and what a loss it would be to sleepwalk through life. You get only one chance to become who you're meant to be."
His new album On God's Time was born in this spirit - not a meditation on mortality, but an acceptance of our transience. Delaware produced and recorded the album himself between his two homes, Mexico City and Charleston, South Carolina. Death here serves as a means to clarify what matters in life, as a lens through which to understand the meaning of our dwindling days on this planet.
The songs emerge from the spiritual world of a cosmic wanderer, filled with otherworldly figures moving through a landscape of tragic beauty and endless wonder. The loose, raw recordings reflect this, driven by instinct and captured live in the moment of creation. The album as a whole is a moving portrait of a songwriter discovering what truly matters - a timeless, dreamlike meditation on love, loss, gratitude, and regret, rooted in the belief that our transience is not a curse, but a gift.
