Tribute to Hana Hegerova in Brno
A tribute to Hana Hegerova performed by Zuzana Nemcova Smejkalova. The programme features twenty-five chansons and two hours of memories - including songs such as Barova lavice, Boze muj, Milord, Potmesilyhost and Ceresne.
The ensemble has performed for thousands of audiences across the Czech Republic, including in Ostrava, Podebrady, Kutna Hora, Nachod and the Vypustek cave, as well as in Prague's Church of Sts. Simon and Jude (FOK) and the amphitheatre in Olomouc. They have appeared in municipal theatres, chamber halls and churches.
Zuzana Nemcova Smejkalova, a singer with a velvety deep voice and theatrical memory in every syllable, does not imitate Hana Hegerova - she gives her work new life. Jana Otahalova plays piano, and Jakub Nemec plays percussion, a versatile drummer with a sense for when to play more and when to hold back.
Hana Hegerova cannot be imitated, only her legacy can be extended and approached with respect. Long live Hegerova.
