A Well-Played Game

A Well-Played Game is a conversational comedy about the power of friendship, mutual interest, and willingness to help one another — even when it is not always easy.

The main character is a bitter, aging widower Fred Kowinski, convinced that the modern world makes no sense to him and that it is worth seeing only his old friend during their regular chess games. Neither his son nor the hired housekeepers he quickly dismisses can help him. That is, until the spirited housekeeper Rozalie enters his unchanging, grumpy life and plays her own game with him — but according to her rules.

The play is moving, sometimes funny and sometimes profound, offering actors space beyond the boundaries of their life and theatrical experience.
