On the Run
Měšťanská beseda, Plzeň
A play about two completely different women who would normally have nothing to say to each other, but a shared escape from established stereotypes brings their paths together.
Two unconventional hitchhikers wait on a night highway. Margot, around forty and slightly uptight, has fled her daughter's eighteenth birthday party—her husband probably won't even notice she's gone. Claude, a generation older and dressed in a flowing robe with the ease of a gangster, is escaping from a retirement home in pursuit of adventure and love affairs she still needs to experience.
From initial bickering over the first car that stops, an idea for a joint escape is born. The journey between them creates a relationship full of twists, arguments and confrontations, but also quiet understanding. Both women mirror each other's mistakes and struggles—and face them with perspective and humor.
