Kitchen Porn
Moving Station, Plzeň
Kitchen Porn is a parody of the unrealistic expectations society places on women. The kitchen as a woman's natural habitat — a place where Sunday roast is baked, where a bottle of spirits hides under the flour, where daughters are taught to cut cookies and become the perfect wife and homemaker. Really?
The performance asks: what defines a woman and how does she see herself? From childhood, we judge ourselves through the eyes of others — parents, classmates, role models — and unwittingly shape ourselves into others' expectations. Generational inheritance, the view of women and their place in society, is passed from parents to children just like handwritten recipes from grandmothers. Along with family secrets and cookbooks come generational trauma and unhealthy behavioral patterns.
Tereza and Kristýna will guide the audience through a woman's life as they perceive it, and attempt to show how paradoxical and absurd their position in society sometimes is. After each performance, there is a discussion with experts.
**After the performance, a discussion with Šárka Homfray — author of the book *Why Are We So Angry?***
