Archi shorts: A kde teda budeme bydlet? — Kino Světozor, Prague

To be, to live, to have an apartment and to have somewhere to be. But at what cost? A collection of eight short films examines housing as both an everyday experience and a political issue - from rental apartments and unfulfilled dreams of homeownership through abandoned buildings that are revived by human initiative, to artistic interventions and acts of civil disobedience that uniquely transform public space.

Holešovice (Hugo Wiesner, Czech Republic, 2025, 9 min, in Czech)
Urban gentrification, disappearing houses, crumbling communities and non-existent neighbourhoods. A personal tribute to Prague's Holešovice, woven through with intergenerational memories, serves as a monument to every trampled lawn, vanished bakery and shuttered corner shop. So hold onto your homes before they fly away.

Hotel Mokum (Yannesh Meijman, Netherlands, 2023, 30 min, in English, English subtitles)
A docufiction about a collective that in 2021, as a protest against the housing crisis and the criminalization of squatting, occupied the abandoned Hotel Mokum in the heart of Amsterdam. Over six weeks, an empty building transformed into a home, a self-proclaimed free space and an oasis in a city suffocating under hypergentrification. Documentary footage and archival sources create a portrait of a community besieging the hotel from within and without.

For Sale
The dream of 2.5 children, a dog and a house with a fence symbolizes a high standard of living, independence and social status - For Sale is a ticket to the best possible neighbourhood. Perfectly manicured lawns, a sea view and cooling pies on the windowsill may be nothing more than a false idyll that conceals isolation, loss of values and loss of identity.

A Shared Dream (Pol Rebaque, Spain, 2025, 8 min, in Spanish, English subtitles)
What are the boundaries of housing and what are we willing to do for a contented life? A young couple sneaks into an as-yet uninhabited apartment building, and as they imagine their shared life in the empty spaces, feelings and doubts emerge.
