Bára Zmeková
Bára Zmeková is a composer, pianist, and singer whose songs with original Czech lyrics move between jazz, folk, classical music, and subtle electronics. She alternates piano playing with synthesizers, and lightens the fragility and urgency of her songs with humor.
Following her debut album Ještě kousek (2013), she released Lunaves (2019, Tranzistor label), which earned her two nominations for the Anděl music awards in the categories of Discovery of the Year and Solo Artist. In 2022, her live recording Live at Gong from the Colours of Ostrava festival was released, and in spring 2024 came the studio album Jediný na světě. She released a live recording from the album launch under the title Live at Palác Akropolis (2025, Tranzistor label).
She has performed concerts throughout the Czech Republic and abroad, completed her second tour of Japan, and performed at the SheArts festival in Cairo and Alexandria. In 2025, she represented the Czech music scene at the world exhibition EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and is part of the official selection of music showcases SXSW 2026 in Austin, USA, and WOMEX 2020.
In Ostrava, she will perform in a trio with drummer Viktor Dořičák and bassist Pavel Šmíd.
