Samhain in the Land of the Celts 2026
The Celtic new year begins with its darker half, when tradition says the boundaries between the world of the living and the afterlife blur. At the Land of the Celts in Nasavrky, this moment will be commemorated by lighting fires in memory of ancestors.
Throughout the day, thematic workshops will be open in front of the oppidum for visitors of all ages - mask-making, autumn decorations, and lantern crafts. An offering place will be set up on the sacred hill where visitors can send messages to the deceased, and children can enter a contest for the most enchanting costume. Craft stalls and refreshments will be available, and families with children can explore a magical forest trail with tasks and mythical creatures.
As evening falls, the oppidum gates open for brave children and adults - the decorated grounds will come alive with gods, mythological figures, and other beings, magical and spooky alike. The band VRBA will perform for listening and dancing, and there will be a Samhain ritual and readings from Celtic mythology. The programme will be rounded out by a tea room and self-guided tours of the open-air museum.
