Dan Bárta & Robert Balzar Trio

Following a spring concert and absolutely unique performance with Jana Kirschner, Czech double bassist Robert Balzar returns to Malý Berlín.

This time with another vocalist of high caliber - Dan Bárta. In this musical partnership you will find a highly regarded compositional and interpretive formation from the Czech jazz scene alongside a multi-genre popular singer and songwriter whose eclectic work is rooted more in rock and soul. Stylistically, this collaboration sits somewhere at the intersection of jazz and pop, and their shared work is also partly conceptual and synthetic.

Dan Bárta is a Czech singer and songwriter whose original and skillfully crafted work is respected by audiences, musicians, and critics alike. With various ensembles he has released more than twenty original albums and has repeatedly performed with artists such as Bobby McFerrin and WB3. He is a ten-time winner of the Czech Music Awards.

Robert Balzar is a Czech double bassist, bass guitarist, composer, educator, and arranger whose artistry transcends the boundaries of his homeland. In addition to collaborating with many significant Czech artists, he has worked with world-renowned names such as Kurt Elling, Erik Truffaz, Arturo Sandoval, John Abercrombie, and others. The Robert Balzar Trio is completed by equally accomplished Czech musicians Vít Křišťan (piano) and Kamil Slezák (drums).
