A multimedia festival about life in North Korea under the direction of writer and Korea specialist Nina Špitálníková. The festival Life Behind Walls: North Korea aims to be the largest event about North Korea and North Korean refugees in the Czech Republic and across Europe. It is created under the leadership of writer and Korea specialist Nina Špitálníková, who has long documented testimonies of people fleeing totalitarianism.
The main immersive installation covers 1,500 m² in Hall 13 of Prague Market Hall. The visual design of the festival is created by architect Barbara Bencová, portraits of North Koreans who escaped totalitarianism were taken by Tim Franco, author of the acclaimed series Unperson. The exhibition also includes illustrations by Dana Lédl (Myokard).
At the heart of the event are authentic testimonies of North Koreans. The festival is designed for multiple generations and also includes a children's zone called Tota lítá, which introduces younger visitors to the value of freedom in a playful way.
