Holy Walk: Saint Ludmila Pilgrimage Trail at Svatý Jan pod Skalou

A guided walk along the Saint Ludmila pilgrimage trail will present the history and legends connected to Saint Ludmila and Svatý Jan pod Skalou. The programme will highlight Saint Ludmila as the first historically documented Czech princess and one of the significant figures in the early days of Christianity in Bohemia.

The route will lead participants to places associated with the hermit Ivan, including his cave and the Baroque Church of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist. The walk will also cover the legend of Saint John the Baptist's apparition to Ivan and the local spring. The walk continues to a viewpoint at 440 m above sea level and down into the Svatý Jan pod Skalou valley.
