Antonín Moskalyk first turned to Arnošt Lustig's work in 1965, when he directed the television film "Prayer for Katerina Horovitzova". Two years later came the film Dita Saxová, whose source material the writer set at the end of the war.
The main character, an eighteen-year-old Jewish girl, spent her formative years in a concentration camp and after her return finds no relatives. The hope with which she initially enters her new life is soon shattered - the need to struggle with her surroundings and adapt to circumstances for which she is unprepared is utterly incompatible with her passionate sense of truth. This leads the girl to a desperate decision.
