CE ZA AR × Architecture Day - architecture up close, with those who created it. A unique opportunity to discover works directly from the eyes of their creators.

An award-winning residential home in the Bôrik neighbourhood, winner of the CE ZA AR 2022 award in the Residential Homes category and nominee for the Mies van der Rohe Award, will be presented by its architect, Martin Jančok. The urban villa corresponds volumetrically with the surrounding development by concealing roughly a third of its programme in an underground level, lit by a patio below ground level.

The house has three storeys, each representing a different spatial organisation - an open communal floor, a grid of private rooms, and a series of connecting spaces. All storeys are linked by a distinctive spiral staircase, positioned outside the square footprint of the house's central section.

The basic cubic volume of the villa is complemented by two additional elements: a western "functional facade" that acts as a filter between the street and interior, and a lean-to roof marking the entrance on the building's north side.
