Small Movement in a Lava Field

The performance "Small Movement in a Lava Field" by Johana Šulík Bártová draws inspiration from the format of a traveller's slideshow and is based on recordings from her journeys to Iceland, where she spent time at artist residencies. The combination of images with narration invites the audience to navigate through memories and stories that map distant places. She is accompanied by live musical interludes from Jakub Šulík.

The performance is the opening work of a series exploring the potential of artistic development of civil, everyday performativity — the kind we encounter in traveller's lectures and home screenings of holiday photographs.
