Architecture Day: Prague - Palace of the General Pension Institute — Dům Radost, Prague

A guided tour of Prague's first high-rise building from 1934 with architectural historian Radomíra Sedláková. This functionalist structure, designed by architects Karel Honzík and Josef Havlíček, was built on the site of a former municipal gasworks as the headquarters of the General Pension Institute.

Its cross-shaped floor plan, light ceramic cladding, modern technical equipment, and the integration of administrative and residential sections made it one of the most distinctive interwar buildings in Prague.

The building, later known as the House of Trade Unions and now called Radost, is currently awaiting extensive renovation.
