Architecture Day: Prague - Restoration Workshops
Centrální depozitář UPM, Prague
A tour of the restoration workshops at the central repository of the Museum of Decorative Arts, guided by its restorers and staff.
The modern five-storey building from 2016 has a circular perimeter around a square inner core and is equipped with technologies ensuring safe storage of collection items and comfortable working conditions. The restoration workshops are located in the corridors around the building's perimeter - offices surrounding the repository also function as an insulating layer that reduces energy consumption needed to maintain a stable climate. The building is designed as a low-energy structure that uses energy from geothermal wells.
The building includes a publicly accessible café.
