Day of Architecture: Prague - Mud of Prague
took place · 3 Oct 2026
zastávka autobusu Pod Táborem, Prague
Description was written before the event
A walk tracing the history of former emergency settlements on the outskirts of Prague with David Platil, a social anthropologist and sociologist.
Colonies such as V Pískovně, Před Mostem, Za Mostem, Za Horou, and U Obecní cihelny emerged in the 1920s as a response to the housing crisis following World War I. Together with over 60 other emergency settlements documented by the 1950s, they formed an inseparable part of the city's character for decades.
The walk is part of a private research project called Bahno Prahy, the first Czech website dedicated to systematically collecting information about this phenomenon in Prague and Czech history.
