Architecture Day: Prague - Žižkov Rental Houses in the 20th Century

A guided walk with art historians Kateřina Lopatová and Dana Schlaichertová traces the transformation of rental housing in Žižkov during the first half of the 20th century. How did avant-garde architectural approaches, growing hygiene standards, and changing urban lifestyles shape the buildings of this neighbourhood?

A key turning point came in 1922 when Žižkov was incorporated into Greater Prague, accelerating the district's transformation and introducing new ideas about modern housing standards. Both guides have long been engaged with this area through the Architectural Manual of Prague project.
