Architecture Day: Liberec - Karel Hubáček House: Prefabricated Family Housing — Dům Karla Hubáčka, Liberec XV-Starý Harcov
Description was written before the event

A guided tour of an experimental family house from 1961 with architect Daniela Kvapilová. In Liberec's Starý Harcov, the first attempt at prefabricated family housing construction in Czechoslovakia was built - designed by Karel Hubáček, who lived here with his family from 1962 until the end of his life.

The building features a steel skeleton with Cerami-type plaster and panels made of foam concrete and slate. The interior with sliding walls represents a thoughtful concept of flexible living space. The house never entered series production, yet it continues to impress with its spatial solutions and construction.

Since 2024, the building has been managed by the North Bohemian Museum, which has established a permanent exhibition dedicated to Hubáček's life and work. Visitors can view the original interior with period furnishings and this exhibition.
