A Minor Accident

A chance encounter brings together Vahid, a former political prisoner, and a man in whom Vahid recognizes his torturer from prison. He never saw the man's face, but he is certain he recognizes the sound of his artificial leg—or so he believes. A spontaneous idea for revenge, however, is plagued by doubt, and so Vahid and other former prisoners decide to verify the man's identity.

This road movie with existential roots turns attention to the politics of contemporary Iran. Golden Palm holder Jafar Panahi draws from personal experience of a repeatedly convicted man and poses a fundamental question: can one take revenge on a regime through an individual who serves it faithfully?
